podcast show notes ~ shane turgeon talks tattoos at CIII (and beyond!)

Twenty years ago, Star Wars Celebration III was a pivotal moment in the history of the event. Several traditions began that weekend that still carry over into the Celebrations of today. One of those is the Tattoo Track, or Tattoo Pavilion. Back in 2005, Star Wars tattoos were featured at Celebration for the very first time! At the helm of this was Shane Turgeon, who had been exhibiting pictures of people’s Star Wars tattoos on his website Tattoos and Toys. I had Shane on Into A Larger World podcast to get the full story of this now beloved feature of Celebration. In this post, you’ll see some of Shane’s personal photos from 2005 and some additional articles and things from the years that followed, plus links to photos and videos that we discuss in the podcast episode!

Note that while tattooing at Celebration didn’t start until 2010, artist Eric Negron was tattooing on fake skin at CIII! Fake skin is a tool used by tattoo artists for training and practice. Photo below from Rebel Scum!
