celebration japan 2025 ~ cool stuff from on the scene part 1

Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 wrapped up on Sunday, April 20th, and as usual, it flew by lightning fast. There were announcements, big reveals, merch exclusives, and unreal cosplays, not to mention some of the best swag I’ve ever seen and so much more.

Travis and I were joined by a whole bunch of friends (including two who called in from Japan!) on YouTube as we streamed live every night, you can check out the playback HERE if you’re missing the Celebration vibes!

Now, there are countless blogs and outlets where you can get a recap of all the new stuff, but here on the Celebration Database we’re interested in more of the set ups, the signs, the floor features, and other wacky bits like that. We’ll dive into it all eventually (I can’t blog fast enough, folks) but here’s a start featuring some cool things at Celebration Japan!

All photos by Catherine Connolly unless otherwise labeled.
Thank you to Catherine for being eyes on the ground and sharing so many amazing pictures with the database!

A great shot of the outside of the convention center. Those large key art banners acted as a backdrop for many selfies and photos!

The badge art was all around throughout the convention, including these flags on lamp posts. It was also featured on merchandise in the store including prints, lanterns, pins, shirts, and more.

There was a red carpet area for press interviews which I’ve been seeing all over Instagram as larger outlets share clips chatting with the big stars.
This bus, labeled Power the Force, was part of a program with a handful of influencers that were taken around Tokyo and given amazing access to the event and some great shopping, a dinner party, etc.
Lines are always a part of Celebration, and reports from the scene were emphasizing long waits for the store and food court, as well as for nearby hotels. More reports coming soon!

Here’s the food court, which had a lively themed menu, and the outdoor food trucks reminiscent of Anaheim. Seems like the trucks had a bit of a shorter wait time (e-mail your food truck or food court Japan stories!)

This Celebration was packed with goodies, including a wall of Gashapon machines that I think I would have been bankrupted at, most likely, lol.

This Mandalorian & Grogu piece is a Nebuta, or a type of lantern float used at a festival in Japan. The sign pictured was with the display at Celebration, though the picture of the sign that I found is from when it was displayed in a shopping mall.

A gorgeous mural of Star Wars characters from manga and Star Wars Visions. Love to see the main characters from Lost Stars and Leia from “Leia: Princess of Alderaan” on the far right!
A good shot of the fan stage! A few of the smaller stages were in these open air sectioned-off areas. (Please e-mail photos of other stages!)

The Hasbro display was beautiful including this tree that is inspired by the Great Tree from the Jedi temple on Coruscant.

A good shot of the art show from above!
These pins for trading were available at the corresponding sponsored booths throughout the weekend. Some were also available in the store.

Please note, I know that this is not an exhaustive list of things! There was much more to be seen on the show floor, including the stunning live stage set up and all the other items from the Belgian Prop Crew, the amazing droid and costuming group area that was set up to look like a street (??? please send pics) and much more.

I’m looking for your photos and experiences to add to the archive! What was your favorite thing you saw at Celebration Japan 2025? What was your favorite interaction, experience, panel, moment? Anything and everything, send it to intoalargerworldproject@gmail.com and tell us all about it! You might be featured here on the blog or in the upcoming issue of Into A Larger World Fanzine, and your memories will go into the archive!
